About
I bring over 17 years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist and have worked across a diverse range of healthcare settings including acute inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, rehabilitation, psycho-oncology, palliative care, and clinical research. This breadth of experience allows me to work confidently with high prevalence and complex psychological concerns.
Earlier in my career, I worked within Melbourne's public mental health system, including acute inpatient, continuing care, prevention and recovery care, and community mental health services. These roles provided invaluable experience in comprehensive psychological assessment, complex case formulation, crisis intervention, multidisciplinary care, and supporting individuals living with severe mental illness and their families.
I recently worked as a Senior Psychologist at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre, providing psychological care to patients across outpatient oncology, inpatient palliative care, and cancer surgery prehabilitation programs. I have also provided supervision to provisional psychologists undertaking postgraduate clinical placements.
Research and lifelong learning remain an important part of my practice. My doctoral research involved developing and evaluating a group program supporting carers of people who hear voices, with the program later informing further research and intervention at King's College in London. In 2009-2010 I worked as a Research Associate and Research Therapist with The University of Manchester and the UK's National Health Service on a clinical trial investigating a novel psychological therapy to prevent suicide in psychosis. During this time, I co-authored a book on suicide prevention in psychosis, presented inservice trainings at NHS sites on suicide prevention, and presented a skills workshop alongside Professor (now Emeritus) Nicholas Tarrier at the 2010 British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies Conference in Manchester. More recently, I collaborated with researchers in Australia and the UK on a research proposal to evaluate an intervention to prevent suicide in persons with chronic illness. A list of my publications can be found here.
Across every stage of my career, one principle has remained constant: providing thoughtful, compassionate, evidence-based care that recognises each person's unique story and draws upon on the best available psychological science.
